T-Mobile is seeking a Principal Engineer, Forward Deployment to set technical direction for agentic AI across the Forward Deployment Engineering practice. You will stay hands-on writing production code while shaping AI strategy with platform, data, and infrastructure leaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related field. Master’s preferred.
• 7–10+ years production engineering experience, including 3+ years deploying LLM-based systems.
• Experience setting technical direction for a team/practice and guiding architecture.
• Preferred: experience in AI/cloud company with stakeholder navigation.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for agentic AI delivery across the practice.
• Establish architectural approaches and determine problems to solve with agentic AI.
• Drive delivery consistency across domains and provide senior technical support.
• Build and maintain shared technical foundations; generalize solutions across domains.
• Handle complex technical challenges while balancing cost, performance and reliability.
• Advise leadership on delivery capacity and raise concerns early.
• Grow the technical capability of the FDE team and calibrate standards for hiring.
• Incorporate data handling, privacy, and security aligning with governance standards.
