Job summary

Samsara is seeking an experienced data/AI engineer to shape the technical roadmap for the Marketing Data and Analytics (MDA) Engineering team. You will architect core Databricks pipelines, Gold Layer tables, and semantic models, turning ambitious business challenges into high-value data products and autonomous AI-enabled workflows.

You will design semantic layers, data dictionaries, and structured documentation to enable self-serve BI and AI analytics, partnering with the BI team to ensure

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or AI engineering.
• Expert-level Python and SQL with strong data modeling and DBT experience.
• Deep experience with data warehouse and lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and modern data stack.
• Experience building semantic layers and structured documentation optimized for AI ingestion.
• Agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor) in regular workflow.
• Experience building, shipping, evaluating, and monitoring LLM or agent systems in production.

Responsibilities

• Define strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for MDA's data and AI foundation.
• Architect and own Samsara's marketing data infrastructure: ETL/ELT pipelines and Gold Layer tables.
• Design semantic layers, data dictionaries, and documentation for self-serve BI and AI analytics.
• Translate business questions into scalable data solutions with autonomous work.
• Lead cross-team data initiatives end-to-end and ensure data quality and reliability.
• Serve as senior technical lead; mentor engineers and analysts.
• Drive AI to solve high-impact problems with AI-enabled data products and agents.
