Job summary

Humana, Inc. is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to own the design and delivery of the NBA platform's agentic AI capabilities.

This hands-on role requires you to contribute production AI systems while leading a small team of engineers and contractors. You will architect multi-step AI workflows, integrate large language models, and partner with frontend and product teams to embed AI-driven analysis and recommendations into operator-facing experiences.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software or ML engineering experience with at least 1-2 years focused on LLM integration or AI product engineering.
• Hands-on experience building production agentic systems and multi-step pipelines.
• Experience with RAG patterns and vector search in production environments.
• Strong Python engineering skills for production-grade AI systems.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or equivalents) into applications.
• Experience leading a small team or pod and managing contractors.

Responsibilities

• Own design and delivery of AI agent workflows across the NBA platform.
• Hands-on development writing and shipping production code with the team.
• Lead a pod of engineers and contractors, aligning delivery and quality.
• Design AI workflows that integrate with data, decisioning outputs, and channels.
• Build evaluation frameworks to measure AI output quality and safety.
