Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead AI Engineer to own the design and delivery of agentic AI capabilities for the NBA platform. This is a hands-on role with leadership of a small engineering pod, focusing on building production AI systems and AI-driven workflows.

You will integrate LLMs like Claude or OpenAI into platform workflows, and partner with frontend/product teams to deliver AI-powered recommendations in operator surfaces. Expect remote work with some travel.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software or ML engineering experience with at least 1-2 years focused on LLM integration, agentic AI, or AI product engineering.
• Hands-on experience building production agentic systems and multi-step pipelines.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs into real applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own AI agent workflows that surface intelligent analysis and automation.
• Write production code and ship features; lead by example as an IC.
• Architect multi-step agentic pipelines with data layer integration and activation channels.
• Integrate Claude, GPT or equivalents into workflows with prompt engineering and context management.
• Partner with frontend/product teams to deliver AI insights in operator interfaces.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to ensure reliability, safety, and auditability in healthcare.
