Job summary

Apex Logistics International is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager in California to lead accounting operations, including the General Ledger, Treasury, and Accounts Payable. You will direct month-end closes, strengthen internal controls, and mentor staff while partnering with executives to optimize cash flow and reporting.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting with supervisory experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with SQL/Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Strong proficiency in advanced Excel; experience with data analysis tools SQL, Python.
• Auditing background preferred - experience in internal or external audit is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Demonstrated initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet department and company objectives.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff, setting clear performance metrics and providing ongoing training.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and executive leadership to resolve payment discrepancies, streamline workflows, and support business operations.
• Track operational KPIs across AP, AR, and treasury functions, providing concise status reporting and exception escalation to senior leadership.
• Support annual financial, tax, and internal control audits by preparing documentation, schedules, and managing auditor inquiries.
• Oversee the full accounts payable cycle—including invoice posting, vendor reconciliations, payment preparation, and AP aging.
• Oversee ACH and wire processing while enforcing dual‑authorization, banking access controls, and fraud‑prevention workflows.
• Manage and improve AP workflows and related system administration to maximize processing efficiency.
• Conduct variance and trend analyses during the close cycle, investigating balances, reconciling items, and driving corrective action.
• Develop and maintain internal control procedures, review workflows, segregation of duties, and compliance with US GAAP.
