Job summary

Vertex Education is seeking a Lead Accountant to ensure the accuracy and integrity of complex accounting work across multi-entity schools and clients. You will own the month-end close, perform GAAP analysis, prepare memos, and coach less-experienced staff to strengthen control and efficiency.

Reporting to an Accounting Manager, you will support onboarding, transitions, audit preparation, and process improvements that promote financial transparency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly close for complex client entities and prepare journal entries.
• Prepare balance-sheet reconciliations and analyze variances.
• Provide coaching to junior accountants and ensure documentation.
• Support audit and financial reporting, including schedules.
• Lead client onboarding and transitions as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on data quality.
