Job summary

Vertex Education seeks a Lead Accountant to ensure accurate, GAAP-compliant close for schools and clients. You will own complex multi-entity accounting, provide technical guidance, and strengthen close quality with thoughtful review.

Reporting to a senior manager, you will mentor staff, support onboarding and audits, and drive process improvements that promote consistency and transparency across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus.
• Four or more years of progressive accounting experience, including monthly close, reconciliations, and audit preparation.
• Experience with Sage Intacct.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close for assigned client entities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Prepare technical memos and support documentation for audit reviewers and future preparers.
• Coach and develop junior staff on close procedures and best practices.
• Support onboarding and transitions, and respond to audit inquiries with accuracy.
• Improve processes and controls to enhance consistency and financial transparency.
