Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, AdventHealth Orlando, is a 1,368-bed facility serving as a major tertiary center for the Southeast, the Caribbean, and South America. It houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and cardiac catheterization labs in the country, providing service to over 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients annually.

The Role:

The Security Dispatcher maintains the professional, effective, and efficient operation of the AdventHealth Security Operations Center. Responsibilities include coordinating security personnel, communicating via radio, handling calls for various services and alarms, and maintaining records. The dispatcher monitors alarms related to medical gas, fire, life safety, infant abduction, access control, and generators, dispatching appropriate responses. They also participate in delivering outstanding customer service and uphold respectful relationships with all.

Team Contributions:

• Communicate and document security activities, patrols, and calls for service.
• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls in the Security Operations Center.
• Perform facility electronic lockdowns as directed.
• Monitor fire safety systems and dispatch responses when alarms are triggered.
• Handle alarms for infant abduction, medical gases, and access control.
• Maintain good judgment and professionalism during critical situations while providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications:

The Skills and Experience Needed:

Strongly Preferred:

• Ability to stay composed and accurate in a fast-paced, interrupt-driven environment.
• High security awareness and confidentiality.
• Excellent communication skills, including proper telephone and radio etiquette.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding conversational English.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of security and fire systems, CCTV, access control, duress, infant protection, CAD, and PSIM systems.

Education and Experience:

Required: High School Diploma or GED, 0 years experience.

Preferred: Prior dispatching experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, or emergency services; knowledge of NIMS and HICS.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration:

Required:

Preferred: IAHSS Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO).
