Job summary

Ascension Health in Wichita, KS is seeking a Security role to protect patients, staff and visitors. The Evening Shift offers part-time hours, with patrols, monitoring and rapid response to incidents to maintain a safe Healing Environment.

You will lead safety training, document security narratives, manage traffic flow and provide friendly, professional protection across the campus, with emphasis on de-escalation and service-minded care.

Qualifications

• Drivers license required before hire date or transfer date.
• BLS provider preferred; AHAs or Red Cross accepted.
• Law enforcement preferred.
• Management of Aggressive Behavior credentialed preferred.
• Security professional preferred.
• Security guard preferred.

Responsibilities

• Secure the Healing Environment by conducting proactive patrols and monitoring campus activity to de-escalate risks.
• Lead Emergency Response by executing rapid-response protocols for security incidents and alarms.
• Champion Safety Education by mentoring staff on emergency preparedness and Environment of Care standards.
• Investigate and Solve by documenting security narratives to resolve hazards and improve safety.
• Guide the Campus Experience by managing traffic flow and visitor assistance with a service mindset.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Secure the Healing Environment: Conduct proactive patrols and monitor campus activity to identify and de-escalate potential risks before they impact patient care.

• Lead Emergency Response: Execute rapid-response protocols for security incidents and alarms, serving as a grounded leader for staff and visitors during critical situations.

• Champion Safety Education: Mentor and train hospital staff on emergency preparedness and "Environment of Care" standards to ensure the entire team is ready for any scenario.

• Investigate and Solve: Document security narratives with precision, providing the insights needed to resolve hazards and continuously improve the safety of our facilities.

• Guide the Campus Experience: Manage traffic flow and visitor assistance with a service-oriented mindset, ensuring that the first and last person a visitor sees is a helpful, professional protector.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Drivers License obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• Law Enforcement preferred.

• Management of Aggressive Behavior credentialed from the Management of Aggressive Behavior Training International, Inc preferred.

• Security Professional preferred.

• Security Guard preferred.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences:

• A minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience in a security, military, or law enforcement role, preferably within a healthcare or high-traffic service environment.
