Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking a Scrub/Instrument Nurse at Via Christi, St Francis in Wichita, KS. The role supports the surgical team on day shift, full-time, in the Surgery department. You will maintain sterile fields, hand instruments, and ensure efficient workflows for patient safety.

Requirements include Kansas RN licensure, ACLS/BLS within specified windows, and 3 years of experience with leadership exposure. Priority given to those with OR experience and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing prior to hire date.
• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months; BLS within 1 month.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
• Education: licensure/certification AND 3 years experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.
• Core competency: 1+ year of professional experience in a surgical or operating room setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field for each surgical procedure.
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs by providing instruments and supplies quickly and accurately.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary team to streamline operative workflows and improve patient safety.
• Maintain counts and equipment checks to uphold high standards of patient care.
• Support post-operative transition by resetting the surgical suite for the next procedure.

• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team by providing the correct instruments and supplies with speed and accuracy.




• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to streamline operative workflows, directly impacting patient safety and procedure efficiency.




• Maintain meticulous counts and equipment checks to uphold the highest standards of patient care and operational excellence.




• Support the post-operative transition by ensuring the surgical suite is expertly reset and ready for the next life-saving procedure.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.




• One or more of the following required:




• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.




• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.




• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Required professional licensure/certification AND 3 years of experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.
