Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Seasonal Kitchen Assistant to support chefs, engage guests, and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment. You will help run classes, drive enrollment, and contribute to a best-in-class experience in-store and in kitchen areas.

The role emphasizes customer service, teamwork, and brand representation with flexibility for weekends and holidays. Prior retail and food prep experience is valued, along with a Food Handlers Certification.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older at the time of employment.
• 1 year retail sales experience, preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience, preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and customer loyalty.
• Stay current on products, actively engaging in available training, and independently seeking out additional resources.
• Lead a guest-obsessed culture in both the kitchen and retail sales floor.
• Assist chefs with class execution that drives repeat visits and positive customer feedback.
• Deliver class revenue goals by ensuring high enrollment, positive reviews, and guest return rates.
• Prepare mise en place, assist with setup and breakdown of classes, and keep workstations clean.
• Restock, organize, and maintain kitchen supplies and tools to support store readiness.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and health codes.
• Accurately record time and adhere to wage-hour laws in accordance with SLT policy.
