Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to help chefs, engage guests, and support class operations in a fast-paced kitchen and retail setting.

You will assist with class execution, maintain clean workstations, and uphold food safety standards while delivering a memorable guest experience. The role offers opportunities to learn about products and contribute to a welcoming culinary environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• 1 year retail sales experience, preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience, preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and customer loyalty.
• Stay current on products, participate in training, and independently seek out resources.
• Lead a customer-focused, Guest Obsessed culture in both the kitchen and retail sales floor.
• Assist chefs with class execution that drives repeat visits and positive feedback.
• Deliver class revenue goals by ensuring high enrollment, reviews, and guest return rates.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales goals, contributing to store revenue and KPIs.
• Set up and breakdown classes, including mise en place, prepping ingredients, and cleaning workstations.
• Clean and sanitize dishes and equipment; restock and maintain kitchen supplies.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and sanitation regulations.
• Adhere to wage/hour laws; accurately record time worked per policy.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness; follow SOPs and company policies.
