Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Seasonal Kitchen Assistant to support chefs, engage guests, and maintain a clean kitchen. You will help run classes, ensure exceptional service, and contribute to achieving revenue goals through high enrollment and positive guest feedback.

Ideal candidates bring 1 year of retail experience, food prep or kitchen ops exposure, and a food handlers certification, with a passion for hospitality and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older at time of employment.
• 1 year retail sales experience preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience preferred.
• Valid Food Handlers Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand by creating memorable, educational experiences for guests.
• Maintain product knowledge through training and independent learning.
• Lead a Guest Obsessed culture in both kitchen and retail areas.
• Assist chefs with class execution to drive repeat visits and positive feedback.
• Deliver class revenue goals by high enrollment and positive reviews.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales goals contributing to store revenue.
• Set up and break down classes, organize mise en place, prep ingredients, clean stations.
• Clean and sanitize dishes and equipment promptly for smooth operations.
• Restock, organize, and maintain kitchen supplies for readiness.
• Ensure food safety standards and sanitation regulations are followed.
