Job summary

Sur La Table in Carmel, IN seeks a Seasonal Kitchen Assistant to support chefs, engage guests, and maintain a clean, organized kitchen for classes and events. You’ll help deliver high-quality experiences while representing the brand with hospitality and teamwork.

Ideal candidates are 16+, with retail and/or food prep experience, strong communication, and a passion for community engagement. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and retail systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• 1 year retail sales experience, preferred.
• 1 year food prep and/or kitchen operations experience, preferred.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and retail systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand by creating memorable, educational experiences.
• Maintain product knowledge through training and self-learning.
• Lead a customer-focused, Guest Obsessed culture on the floor and in classes.
• Assist chefs with class execution and drive positive feedback.
• Help meet class revenue goals with high enrollment and reviews.
• Meet or exceed monthly sales goals and contribute to store revenue.
• Assist with class setup, mise en place, prepping ingredients, and cleanup.
• Keep dishes and equipment clean and sanitized for smooth operations.
• Restock, organize, and maintain kitchen supplies and tools.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and sanitation regulations.
• Maintain inventory, minimize shrink, and control expenses.
• Adhere to wage and hour laws and Sur La Table SOPs.
