Job summary

The Langham Chicago is seeking a friendly bar attendant to provide courteous service to guests in the hotel bar, shaping experiences in line with Langham Hospitality Group and Forbes standards.

You will assist with beverage service, maintain station setup, work with servers and kitchen, and help create engaging beverage lists. This role emphasizes guest focus, teamwork, and adherence to safety and quality guidelines.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of food and beverages preparation.
• Basic knowledge of POS systems.
• Basic English language writing skills necessary for completion of requisitions, balance sheets and vouchers.
• Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
• Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and other staff members.
• Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to work stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time.
• Ability to operate beverage equipment: coffeemaker, iced tea machine, etc.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper set-ups for tables in assigned sections with attention to details.
• Inspect linen, silver, china and other table items for cleanliness and appearance.
• Serve food, coffee, water and other beverages to customers as required by guests.
• Resolve complaints in regard to guest experience in positive and professional manner.
• Cooperate closely with other members of the outlet team including servers, porters and kitchen associates.
• Responsible for maintaining station stock, clean during work shift.
• Communicate with Restaurant Management on a daily basis.
• Clean restaurant area during and after meal periods.
• Attend monthly department meetings.
• Follow health and safety procedures.
• Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hospitality Group standards.
• Be fully versed in all Forbes service standards.
