Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a cafeteria worker to assist in daily meal preparation and serving, ensuring meals are nutritious and presented well in a clean, safe environment.

You will follow recipes, monitor serving times, operate a point-of-sale terminal when needed, and maintain sanitation standards under HACCP procedures. A high school diploma or GED and prior food prep experience help, along with a TB test and background check.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background check and TB test negative.
• At least 6 months of quantity food preparation experience.
• Ability to follow recipes and adhere to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for student and staff meals according to daily menus and recipes.
• Set up serving lines and maintain clean, sanitary serving areas.
• Monitor temperatures and safety procedures per HACCP guidelines.
• Operate POS terminal and handle cashier duties when needed.
• Record work activities and attend trainings as required.
• Provide courteous service to students, staff, and visitors.
