Job summary

Shelby County Schools in Memphis, TN is seeking a School Nutrition Worker to assist in efficient cafeteria operations. You will prepare and serve nutritious meals for students and staff, stock supplies, and maintain a clean, sanitary work area.

Responsibilities include following menus and schedules, monitoring temps for safety, serving lines, and possible cashier duties with a POS terminal. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must successfully pass a background check and test negative on a TB skin test.
• Minimum of six (6) months of quantity food preparation or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for student and staff meals according to schedule and recipes.
• Assist in assembling bag lunches and snacks for school programs.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures for safety per HACCP regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness of preparation areas, storerooms, freezers, and equipment.
• Set up serving lines and ensure availability of serving utensils; serve food in correct quantities.
• May serve as cashier; operate a point-of-sale terminal.
• Adhere to all school, District and Health Department quality and safety policies.
• Prepare accurate work records and enter data as needed.
• Attend trainings and meetings to enhance job knowledge and skills.
