Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a school cafeteria worker to assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students and staff in a clean, safe environment. You will follow menus, handle bag lunches, and help maintain hygiene standards across all areas.

You will work on-site in Memphis, collaborate with supervisors, and participate in trainings to stay current with nutrition guidelines and safety practices. Prior experience with school nutrition is a plus.

Qualifications

• Background check required.
• TB test negative required.
• Basic reading of recipes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals for students and staff according to menus and schedules.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure safety and quality.
• Set up serving lines, stock utensils, and assist with stocking supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness of preparation, serving, and storage areas; follow sanitation protocols.
• May operate a POS terminal for cashing out meals; provide courteous service.
• Attend trainings and meetings to maintain knowledge of policies and procedures.
