Job summary

Shelby County Schools is seeking a cafeteria worker to assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals for students and staff in a clean, safe environment.

Responsibilities include following menus and recipes, operating serving lines, maintaining equipment cleanliness, stocking supplies, and possibly cashier duties. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and pass a TB test and background check. The role supports the School Nutrition Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Background check required and TB test negative.
• Minimum six months of quantity food preparation or related experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals to students and staff following menus and recipes.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures for safety and quality.
• Set up serving lines and maintain cleanliness of serving and prep areas.
• Stock supplies and monitor inventory; rotate food products as scheduled.
• May serve as cashier at a point-of-sale terminal.
• Comply with school, district and health department policies.
• Prepare accurate work records and data as needed.
• Attend trainings and meetings to maintain knowledge and skills.
• Provide courteous and friendly service to customers and staff.
