Job summary

Eagle County School District is seeking a Cook at Eagle Valley Middle School to prepare and cook meals according to the school lunch program, serving students efficiently. The role supports Nutrition Services and requires adherence to safety standards.

This full-time position offers benefits and a salary range of $18.30 to $21.96 per hour, with hours over 30 per week. Applicants should have basic food prep experience and good teamwork.

Qualifications

• 6 months experience working with large quantities of food.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, write, understand and follow written and verbal calculations as normally acquired through completion of high school diploma/GED.
• Ability to operate a computer.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sanitation and safe food handling per policy and health dept. manuals.
• Keep kitchen and lunch room clean and organized.
• Measure, weigh and prepare ingredients per approved recipes.
• Take food temperatures to ensure microbiological safety.
• Ensure menu compliance with directives from Nutrition Services Director.
• Regulate portions per National School Lunch Program standards.
• Plan daily production schedules to serve on time.
• Operate POS system when needed and adjust recipes with guidance.
• Collect data for NSLP as requested (menu worksheets, meal counts).
• Maintain flexible schedule and location as required.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, processors, etc.).
• Lift and move orders; manage supply quantities.
• Be cost-conscious with supplies and containers.
• Wash, dry, and store towels and aprons.
• Multitask under time constraints and stay friendly with customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
