Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a dedicated custodian to maintain cleanliness in school facilities and grounds. Training is provided on cleaning tools, equipment, safety, and procedures to support daily operations and events.

The role involves routine cleaning, setup for PTA and events, helping maintain safe spaces, and adhering to signed schedules. Regular attendance and physical capability are required for this full-time position.

Qualifications

• Must have GED or some high school.
• Preferred: High School Diploma.
• Some custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean the cafeteria after lunch, mop and arrange tables.
• Pick up paper and trash in bathrooms and hallways; clean up spills.
• Wash chalkboards; sweep and dust classrooms; prepare rooms for next day.
• Set up for PTA, events, and meetings in cafeteria, auditorium, library.
• Secure and lock all classrooms and outside doors at the end of the day.
• Perform related work as required.
