Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a custodial staff member to perform routine cleaning of school facilities and grounds. Training will cover cleaning tools, equipment and safety practices to ensure a clean and safe environment for students and staff.

Responsibilities include cleaning cafeterias, classrooms and restrooms, moving furniture as needed, maintaining cleanliness after events, and securing doors at day’s end. Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
• Basic reading and spoken English required.
• Regular and reliable attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria after lunch, mop and arrange tables and chairs.
• Pick up trash in bathrooms, halls and around grounds.
• Sweep, mop, dust classrooms and set up for next day.
• Secure all doors at the end of day.
• Assist with events and program setups.
