Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a custodial worker to maintain cleanliness of school buildings and grounds. Training will cover cleaning tools, equipment, and safety procedures to perform custodial tasks effectively.

Responsibilities include classroom and facility cleaning, event setup, and maintaining a safe environment. Regular attendance and adherence to schedules are essential; experienced staff preferred and benefit programs available.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school required.
• Preferred: High School Diploma; some custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria after lunch; mop and wipe surfaces; set up spaces for events and meetings.
• Pick up paper and trash in bathrooms, halls, and around grounds; respond to spills and messes.
• Dust, sweep, mop floors; clean and reset classrooms for the next day.
• Vacuum, wash walls, and clean windows; secure classrooms and outside doors at day end.
• Assist with setup for PTA, special events, and school functions.
• Perform related duties as required.
