Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a dedicated custodial worker to perform routine cleaning and light maintenance in school facilities. You will receive classroom and hands-on training on cleaning tools, equipment, supplies, and safety procedures to perform custodial tasks.

The role requires reliability, basic literacy, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work includes cleaning cafeterias, classrooms, restrooms, and common areas, plus setting up for events and ensuring all doors

Qualifications

• Required: GED or some high school.
• Preferred: High School Diploma and custodial experience.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform duties safely.

Responsibilities

• Clean the cafeteria after lunch, mop floors, wipe tables, and arrange chairs.
• Pick up trash in bathrooms, hallways, and around school grounds; clean spills.
• Dust, sweep, vacuum, and wipe chalkboards; prepare classrooms for the next day.
• Set up for PTA events, meetings, and special events in various areas.
• Ensure doors and classrooms are secured at the end of the day; routine maintenance tasks.
