Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks a Custodian to perform routine cleaning of classrooms, cafeterias, hallways and grounds, with hands-on training in cleaning tools, equipment and safety procedures to maintain a clean, safe school environment.

Required: GED or some high school; preferred: high school diploma and custodial experience. Regular attendance is essential. The district offers health insurance, paid leave, retirement benefits and professional development.

• Ability to read and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Clean the cafeteria after each lunch bell, mop cafeteria.
• Pick-up paper and trash in bathrooms and hallways, clean spills.
• Clean classrooms and set up for next day; move desks if needed.
• Vacuum floors, wash walls, and clean windows.
• Secure and lock classrooms and outside doors at day end.
