Job summary

Qualifications

• 2–5 years experience in Patient Registration, Billing dept., Scheduling dept., or MD offices.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Telephone experience required.
• Strong computer skills and customer service experience.
• Insurance third-party knowledge.
• Ability to work under pressure; works independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Books appointments for services at South Shore Hospital (SSH). Booking may be done with the patient, physician or physician staff and may be done by telephone or fax.
• Pre-register all patients for scheduled appointments.
• Handle pre-certification, eligibility and verification of benefits on all accounts.
• Interact with provider offices/insurance companies for the authorization process.
• Operate department computer programs and reports; manage downtime and system knowledge.
• Provide quality customer service to internal and external customers.
