Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a SCADA Engineer to design, develop and deliver the SOLV SCADA solution for utility-scale renewable projects, including Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems. This role can be hybrid with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR or fully remote.

You'll work with cross-functional teams to implement standards, program SCADA servers and HMIs, review project requirements, and support on-site commissioning while maintaining safety, quality and NERC

Qualifications

• 2–4 years SCADA engineering experience in renewable energy (PV, BESS, wind) with Python.
• Proficiency with Inductive Automation’s Ignition SCADA platform.
• Relational databases and SCADA applications knowledge.
• Familiar with PLC hardware including Schweitzer RTAC, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson RX3i.
• Experience installing/commissioning SCADA networks (fiber, RS232/485, Ethernet).
• Industrial protocols: Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA.
• Ability to read/develop electrical, mechanical and civil diagrams.
• Able to work with subcontractors and field personnel.
• Proficiency with project management and scheduling tools.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop SCADA components and systems for utility-scale renewables.
• Define and implement design standards and best practices with the team.
• Review and implement project-specific requirements for the scope.
• Create device points lists, HMI mockups, commissioning test plans and checklists.
• Program and commission SCADA servers, data historians, and HMIs.
• Review closeout documentation to verify all deliverables.
• Provide intermediate technical support for diverse SCADA configurations.
• Participate in technical discussions with customers and partners.
• Maintain a centralized knowledge base.
• Apply diagnostics to troubleshoot complex plant systems.
• Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site commissioning.
• Learn and adopt software/hardware used by the organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for platform development and data integration.
• Provide project status reports and assist with risk mitigation.
• Promote NERC compliance and governance in programming and commissioning standards.
• Support SOLV Operations for integrations and handoffs.
