Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a SCADA Engineer to support the design, development and delivery of the SOLV SCADA solution for utility-scale solar and battery projects. The role can be hybrid with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR or fully remote.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience in renewable energy.
• Proficiency with Python programming.
• Knowledge of Ignition SCADA platform.
• Familiarity with relational databases.
• Experience with PLC environments (Schweitzer RTAC, Allen-Bradley, GE/Emerson RX3i).
• Experience installing and commissioning SCADA networks (fiber, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet).
• Strong knowledge of Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA and DA.
• Ability to read and develop diagrams and schematics.
• Ability to work with subcontractors and field personnel.
• Proficiency with project management tools.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop SCADA integration components for utility-scale renewables.
• Define and implement product design standards and best practices.
• Review project-specific requirements for scope.
• Generate device points lists, HMI mockups and assets, test plans and checklists.
• Program and commission SCADA servers, data historians, and HMI systems.
• Review closeout documentation to verify contractual deliverables.
• Provide intermediate technical support for SCADA configurations.
• Participate in technical discussions with customers and partners.
• Maintain a centralized knowledge base.
• Apply diagnostics to troubleshoot plant monitoring and control systems.
• Coordinate with customers and field technicians for on-site commissioning.
• Learn appropriate software and hardware used by the organization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for platform development and data integration.
• Provide project status reports and assist with risk mitigation.
• Promote NERC compliance in programming and commissioning standards.
