Job summary

First Merchants Bank is seeking an SBL Business Development Officer to originate and manage a profitable SBA loan portfolio. You will market, network, collect documents, analyze financials, and provide exceptional client service to support growth goals.

Successful candidates will have 5+ years of SBA loan origination, strong sales acumen, and knowledge of SBA SOP and underwriting. This role requires collaboration with Underwriting and Closers to close loans in a compliant manner.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to market SBA loans and build relationships.
• Strong client service orientation and communication skills.
• Understanding SBA SOP and loan eligibility requirements.
• Ability to analyze income statements and collateral.
• Experience originating SBA loans is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and cultivate referral sources to maintain pipeline.
• Assemble loan packages and prepare credit memos per policy.
• Manage the loan origination process from outreach to submission.
• Coordinate document collection and ensure data security.
• Maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
