Job summary

First Merchants Bank is seeking an SBL Business Development Officer to join our team and manage a profitable SBA loan portfolio. You will originate loans, market the SBL offering, collect documents, analyze finances, and deliver exceptional customer service to support growth goals.

You will build relationships, network aggressively, and coordinate with underwriters to ensure loan package quality while complying with credit guidance and SOPs.

Qualifications

• Five or more (5+) years successfully originating SBA loans required.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field, or equivalent related experience.
• Excellent sales acumen and ability to market and network.

Responsibilities

• Identify and cultivate relationships with external referral sources to maintain a consistent pipeline of SBA loan transactions.
• Tell the SBL story while highlighting competitive advantages in the marketplace.
• Actively manage pipeline, follow up on new leads, and provide detailed feedback to prospective borrowers; update pipeline tracker weekly.
