First Merchants seeks an SBL Closing Specialist III to manage the SBA loan closing process from approval through funding. The role includes coaching staff, developing protocols, and ensuring full compliance with SBA and bank requirements.

It can be remote within our operational footprint, offering a dynamic, deadline-driven environment. Ideal candidates have 7+ years of closing experience, strong leadership, and proficiency with MS Office and LaserPro.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or relevant field.
• 7+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated management, leadership and coaching skills.
• Flexibility and collaboration skills.
• Excellent listening skills and coachability.
• Problem-solving and proactive thinking.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel.

Responsabilités

• Manage the closing process from approval to funding while maintaining accurate files that meet SBA and bank requirements.
• Coach, mentor, and develop staff; serve as lead trainer and protocol developer.
• Organize files and facilitate information gathering with customers and third parties.
• Prepare closing checklists based on loan approval and type; review third-party reports.
• Order appraisals, environmental and title work; review closing documents.
