Job summary

Sur La Table is seeking a Chef Instructor, Savory to lead hands-on savory classes and deliver expert culinary instruction in-store. The role focuses on teaching techniques, engaging customers, and driving sales of cookware, cutlery, and kitchen tools through rich, interactive experiences.

You will set up and run classes, stay current on product knowledge, and uphold brand standards while delivering exceptional customer experiences in a dynamic retail environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment.
• A degree in culinary arts is preferred; however, candidates with extensive culinary experience and demonstrated technical proficiency will be considered in lieu of formal education.
• 1-2 years of kitchen operations experience.
• Valid Food Manager Certification.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Passion for community engagement and providing exceptional customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Represent Sur La Table’s brand and culture by creating memorable, educational experiences that inspire repeat visits and customer loyalty.
• Deliver class experiences focused on savory cooking that reflect the brand’s passion for food and teaching.
• Communicate technical cooking concepts in a clear, encouraging manner.
• Assist in setting up and breaking down classes, including mise en place and cleaning workstations.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and store policies; manage inventory and class materials.
