Job summary

BDO USA, P.A. in the United States seeks a Tax Manager, State and Local Tax to advise clients on SALT issues and supervise engagements. This role collaborates with Core Tax Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers to deliver SALT services across multi-state clients.

You will lead research, compliance, planning and controversy work, while marketing and business development responsibilities are also emphasized. A strong leadership and communication skill set is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, required; focus in business, preferred
• Master's degree in Accounting/Taxation or J.D., preferred
• Four (4) years of prior SALT/state and local/multistate experience or equivalent
• CPA certification or other relevant certification, preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word) and tax research tools

Responsibilities

• Identifies complex SALT situations and outlines issue and sources
• Analyzes facts and sources before delivering research report
• Provides SALT expertise to clients and partners
• Drafts tax memorandums and opinions; assists in tax planning
• Represents clients before tax authorities when needed
• Supervises SALT staff and ensures training on tax software
• Develops consultative selling strategies and manages client expectations
