Job summary

BDO USA, LLP is seeking a Tax Senior Manager, State and Local Tax to advise clients on SALT implications, lead research and compliance activities, and drive business development. The role collaborates with Core Tax Partners and senior staff to deliver SALT expertise across engagements.

The position emphasizes supervising SALT professionals, developing tax strategies, and managing complex tax issues for multi-state clients while aligning with the firm’s policies and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of state and local tax experience in multisate contexts.
• Experience supervising tax professionals on project or engagement basis.
• Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations and partnerships preferred.
• CPA or other relevant certification preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office; Excel and Word emphasized.

Responsibilities

• Research and outline tax issues with appropriate sources.
• Prepare tax returns reviews and respond to notices.
• Draft tax memorandums and tax opinions.
• Negotiate settlements and manage state tax audits.
• Supervise SALT staff and ensure training.
