Job summary

BDO USA, LLP is seeking a State & Local Tax Director to partner with Principals and Managing Directors to deliver client-focused SALT services. You will lead research, compliance, and consulting efforts across tax issues, while driving business development and mentoring a team of SALT professionals.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and a strong client-centric approach to deliver timely, accurate tax solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) or more years of SALT experience required.
• Experience supervising tax professionals on projects or engagements.
• Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations and partnerships preferred.
• CPA or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead research on state and local tax issues with client-specific facts.
• Ensure timely filing and identify areas for efficiency and pricing.
• Draft responses to tax authorities and monitor project work plans.
• Develop tools to improve SALT services and cross-sell offerings.
• Represent clients before state and local tax authorities when needed.
• Coach and manage SALT team members and support career development.
