Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a Vice President/Director-level Sales Engineer to lead and scale a technical sales team that partners with merchants to implement API-based payments solutions.

You will stay hands-on in complex deals, mentor engineers, and drive seamless integrations across the sales cycle. You will collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Revenue to translate merchant needs into actionable product feedback and robust technical demonstrations.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Eng, or similar customer-facing technical role.
• 3–4 years of people management experience.
• Track record of developing technical talent and holding teams accountable.
• Hands-on in technical customer conversations and deal advancement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Sales Engineers with clear expectations.
• Participate in deals, supporting live technical discovery and solution presentations.
• Collaborate with merchant leaders for leadership involvement when needed.
• Develop deep knowledge of Affirm products, APIs, and integration options.
• Build and test integrations in sandbox environments and coach the team to do the same.
• Use AI development tools in technical work and guide their use in prototypes and testing.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Revenue to design merchant solutions.
• Turn merchant requirements into actionable product feedback and process improvements.
• Foster a respectful environment with feedback and growth opportunities.
