Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Sales Associate to join the Fluid Solutions team, entering a structured Sales Development Program designed to prepare you for an Outside Sales Representative role. You’ll train, shadow sales and operations, and participate in local and North America onboarding to sharpen your selling skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in a customer-facing sales role preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Proficient computer and mobile phone/tablet skills.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Training: must live within reasonable driving distance of assigned branch and report on-site M–F.

Responsibilities

• Begin training at a local branch, shadowing both sales and operations to understand the equipment-rental lifecycle.
• Join North America onboarding class to sharpen sales techniques.
• Progress through outbound sales campaigns across construction verticals and customer segments.
• Master United Rentals sales tools, including CRM, inventory management platforms, and customer portal.
• Lead high-level sales conversations involving price negotiations and rental contracts.
• Learn proven sales methodologies to deliver customer solutions and drive revenue growth.
• Participate in local team initiatives and events.
• Track development progress with real-time metrics and peer rankings.
• Receive daily feedback from leadership meetings and ride-alongs at jobsites.
• The SDP lasts 4–6 months before promotion to Outside Sales Representative.
