Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled retail supervisor to lead store operations, manage inventory, and ensure excellent customer service. You will oversee cash handling, training, and staff supervision while maintaining safety and loss-prevention standards.

Ideal candidates bring prior retail supervisory experience, strong communication, and the ability to stand for long periods. This role is based in Alaska and requires compliance with Federal background checks and US work authorization.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years or older to apply.
  • Prior retail experience in inventory control and retail sales.
  • Ability to routinely lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Non-U.S. nationals must have resided within the United States or U.S. territories for at least three of the last five years, when applicable.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check and applicable pre-employment requirements.
  • Must participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
  • Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years old must be registered with the Selective Service System unless exempt.
  • Resume/application must be submitted in English.
  • Preferred: experience operating a cash register and working knowledge of sales inventory.
  • Preferred: previous retail supervisory experience.
  • Preferred: current USCG NAF sales clerk with at least 6 months of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome customers and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain product knowledge and assist customers with merchandise selection or substitute items.
  • React quickly to customer concerns.
  • Oversee overall sales department operations.
  • Order, receive, price, and monitor merchandise stock levels.
  • Assist with price changes, markdowns, promotional sets, and signage.
  • Communicate with headquarters staff regarding special orders and merchandise issues.
  • Train employees on cash register and front-end duties and provide input on evaluations.
  • Operate cash registers and process cash, checks, credit cards, and other payments.
  • Prepare, verify, and issue change funds.
  • Collect and reconcile cash receipts, register tapes, checks, and credit card receipts.
  • Investigate discrepancies and maintain daily cash overage and shortage records.
  • Control and secure change funds, the safe, and cash registers.
  • Serve as key carrier and open or close the store as required.
  • Direct or supervise employees and assume overall store responsibility in management's absence.
  • Follow loss-prevention, safety, and emergency-preparedness policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
