Daikin Applied Americas seeks a Sales Applications Engineer focused on custom Commercial Air Handlers. This fast-paced role supports sales with technical design insights, pricing options, and product positioning.

Location is Southern California; onsite in the San Diego office once a week with travel to Tijuana and customer sites. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred; strong CAD skills and HVAC knowledge are essential.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience; HS diploma acceptable with experience.
• 2+ years related experience; 4+ years in commercial HVAC strongly preferred.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD; HVAC components experience.
• Ability to read prints and technical documents; independent analysis.
• Spanish skills beneficial; English required.

• Provide prompt, accurate support to sales inquiries on applications, systems or pricing.
• Analyze and propose modifications to meet customer requirements.
• Communicate with customers to evaluate needs and assess processes.
• Process modification requests not covered by published pricing.
• Keep informed on new products and competitive models.
• Prepare technical literature for internal and field use.
• Conduct product training for sales reps and customers.
• Evaluate improvements of training processes.
• Provide leadership within sales and engineering.

This is a fast paced, high volume role managing multiple projects simultaneously with tight timelines. This role will provide technical expertise including design on commercial HVAC products to the sales teams and customers. Location: Southern California, onsite in the San Diego office once a week with some travel to the manufacturing facilities in Tijuana, Mexico and customer visits.

Your Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, accurate support to sales representative inquiries regarding special applications, systems, or pricing.
• Analyze and propose modifications to current products and services to meet customer requirements.
• Communicate with customers to evaluate and understand their needs. Assess processes to meet those needs.
• Process requests for modifications or options and other information not covered by published pricing.
• Keep informed on new products and competitive models in the marketplace.
• Prepare technical literature for internal and field application.
• Conduct product training to sales representatives and customers.
• Evaluate and propose improvements of product training processes.
• Provide leadership and direction within sales and engineering organization.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Additional work experience may be considered in lieu of degree. High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years' related experience, 4+ years' experience in commercial HVAC strongly preferred.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and AutoCAD. Experience with HVAC component selections (coils, fans, heat exchangers).
• Experienced in blueprint and technical document review with ability to understand and read technical details from prints, drawings, and other documents.
• Independent analysis and judgment skills, using prior experience and knowledge to resolve non-standard problems.
• Preferred bilingual English/Spanish.

The typical salary for this position ranges from $82,000 - $145,000 in San Diego. The range displayed represents the pay range for positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment requirements, including verification of employment history, education, background screening, and drug testing where permitted by law. Safety-sensitive positions may require cannabis (marijuana) testing. All testing and employment decisions will comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
