Job summary

Southland Industries offers an Internship and New College Graduate program to immerse students in Occupational Health & Safety within the Design/Build HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection industry. You will support the Safety Manager to enforce safety procedures and ensure OSHA compliance on projects and facilities.

You will gain hands-on experience by working with field personnel, assisting in safety program implementations, and learning records management with a view to potential full-time

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree aligned with Occupational Health and Safety.
• Working knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to work with field employees in a professional manner.
• Ability to understand and communicate state, federal and local OSHA regulations.
• Strong work ethic and initiative.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Manager in enforcing safety procedures on sites.
• Help implement the Corporate Safety Award Program.
• Distribute certification cards for training and maintain records.
• Report and manage vehicle claims.
• Assist in reporting workers' compensation claims.
• Update MSDS manual.
• Assemble safety manuals for distribution.
• Assist in safety tailgate meetings and maintain forms.
