Job summary

Southland Industries offers an immersive internship/CO-OP in Occupational Health & Safety within its HVAC, plumbing and fire protection projects. You will support the Safety Manager to enforce procedures, manage site safety, and learn regulatory compliance across projects.

The program emphasizes hands-on experience with field teams, documentation, and safety training, with potential for full-time opportunities. A pursuing degree in safety or related field is ideal.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree that aligns with Southland needs: Occupational Health and Safety.
• Working knowledge of construction safety practices and the ability to learn more about safety and loss management.
• Build experience by working with Southland's field employees and customers in a professional manner.
• Understand and communicate OSHA regulations at state, federal and local levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Manager in enforcing safety procedures on sites.
• Maintain and distribute safety documentation and records.
• Support reporting of workers' compensation claims and vehicle incidents.
• Assist in assembling safety manuals and distributing tailgate meeting notes.
• Help implement and monitor the Corporate Safety Award Program.
