Job summary

Methodist Hospital Westover Hills in San Antonio, TX is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) to assess, treat, and care for patients with pulmonary disorders, and to administer respiratory therapies under physician orders.

Responsibilities include operating ventilators, arterial blood gas analysis, monitoring responses, providing emergency care, and collaborating with physicians and nurses to manage patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• 1-year previous Respiratory Therapy experience preferred
• Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner required
• RRT or grandfathered CRT NBRC credential required
• BLS and ACLS within 90 days of employment; PALS/NRP within 90 days if department requires

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up devices such as mechanical ventilators and related therapies per treatment parameters.
• Provide emergency care including artificial ventilation and CPR assistance.
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and interpret results.
• Follow physician orders and evaluate therapy requirements (type, mode, duration).
• Monitor patient response via vital signs and ABG analysis; adjust care as needed.
• Consult with physicians and nurses to modify the plan of care.
