Job summary

Methodist Hospital Metropolitan in San Antonio, TX, seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) to assess, treat, and care for patients with pulmonary disorders. You will supervise the clinical administration of respiratory care modalities and work as part of the multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include graduation from an approved Respiratory Therapy Program, Texas license, NBRC credentials (RRT or grandfathered CRT), and BLS with ACLS within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• 1 year of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
• Texas license to practice Respiratory Care in Texas.
• NBRC credential: RRT or CRT (grandfathered CRT) before July 1, 2002.
• BLS on hire and ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• PALS/NRP within 90 days if required by department.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration, aerosol generators, and disposable respiratory care products.
• Provide emergency care, including artificial ventilation, external cardiac massage, and assist with CPR.
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and interpret values to guide treatment.
• Follow physician orders for treatment type, mode and duration; manage universal precautions and medication dosing.
• Monitor patient response through vital signs, ABG values, auscultation, pulse oximetry, and ETCO2.
• Consult with physicians and nurses to adjust patient care plans as needed.
