Job summary

Methodist Hospital Westover Hills in San Antonio seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT) to assess, treat and care for patients with pulmonary disorders, and to oversee the clinical administration of respiratory care modalities within the department. The role requires graduation from an approved Respiratory Therapy Program, Texas license to practice, NBRC credentials as an RRT or CRT, and BLS with ACLS within 90 days.

Prior RT experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• NBRC credentials as RRT or CRT (before July 1, 2002 grandfathered CRT).
• Texas license to practice Respiratory Care in Texas.
• BLS upon hire; ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• PALS or NRP within 90 days if required by department.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration, aerosol generators, and disposable respiratory care products.
• Provide emergency care, including artificial ventilation, external cardiac massage, and assist staff with CPR.
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and interpret results.
• Follow physician orders and evaluate treatment requirements (type, mode, duration).
• Monitor patient response via vital signs, ABG, breath sounds, pulse oximetry, and end-tidal CO2.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and health care professionals to manage the plan of care.
