Job summary

Methodist Hospital Texsan, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT PRN to join a dedicated team in San Antonio, TX. You will assess, treat and monitor patients with pulmonary disorders, operating ventilators and administering therapies according to physician orders.

The role requires an approved Respiratory Therapy program graduate, Texas license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, and NBRC credential as RRT (CRT grandfathered acceptable).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.
• 1-year previous Respiratory Therapy experience preferred
• Must possess a current Texas license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
• NBRC credential as RRT OR grandfathered CRT
• BLS upon hire and ACLS within 90 days of employment
• PALS/NRP within 90 days if required by department

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up devices such as mechanical ventilators and respiratory care products.
• Provide emergency care including artificial ventilation and CPR assistance.
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases and interpret values.
• Follow physician orders for treatment and evaluate therapy parameters.
• Monitor patient response via vital signs, ABG, breath sounds, SpO2 and EtCO2.
• Consult with physicians and nurses to adjust patient care plans.
