Job summary

Advocate Health's Carolinas Medical Center Mercy Respiratory Therapy Services is seeking a full-time Respiratory Therapist. The role performs comprehensive respiratory care per physician orders and approved protocols, manages ventilators, analyzes blood gases, and coordinates with the care team to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualified candidates hold an AMA-approved Respiratory Care credential, NBRC-registered RT, NC license, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent required; Bachelor's preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC).
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in North Carolina.
• BLS certification required; advanced facility certifications.
• For certain units, 2 years critical care experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform direct respiratory care per physician orders and protocols.
• Consult with physicians on therapy effectiveness and recommendations.
• Provide ventilator support and monitor life-sustaining equipment.
• Maintain and utilize respiratory care equipment and records.
• Document therapy results and communicate with healthcare team.
• Respond to emergencies with respiratory interventions as needed.
• Operate and interpret blood gas analyses according to policy.
• Work independently in patient care areas; support teammates.
