Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Respiratory Therapist to provide direct patient care in a hospital setting, following physician orders and approved protocols. You will operate ventilators and support cardiopulmonary life support equipment, ensuring proper use of respiratory care devices.

The role requires U.S. licensure as an Respiratory Care Practitioner in North Carolina, RRT or equivalent, BLS, and completion of an AMA-approved program.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• RRT or RRT Equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Licensed as Respiratory Care Practitioner in North Carolina; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of oxygen delivery modes and equipment; conducts prescribed procedures to achieve oxygenation.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and performs diagnostic procedures as per policy.
• Initiates and monitors mechanical and non-invasive ventilators; understands critical care duties.
• Evaluates current therapies and recommends plans of care and patient education needs.
• Documents therapy and communicates results to the healthcare team.
• Performs blood sampling analysis and interprets results for treatment decisions.
• Works independently across patient care areas; proficient in EMR and integration with Respiratory Care.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes regulatory requirements and proficiency evaluations.
