Job summary

A Raleigh-area heavy civil contractor is seeking a Roadway/Utility Superintendent to lead day and night crews on highway and utility projects, including NCDOT work. This role requires strong field leadership, safety oversight, and ability to coordinate subcontractors and materials.

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience at superintendent or senior foreman level, DOT project exposure, and readiness for shift work. Readiness to relocate to the Triangle area is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of heavy civil roadway and/or underground utility experience at superintendent or senior foreman level.
• DOT roadway or utility project experience; night work a plus.
• Reading plans and specs; keep accurate quantities.
• Able to work day or night shifts; valid driver's license.
• NCDOT project experience is a plus; OSHA 30 is a plus; HCSS HeavyJob experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Run day and night shift field operations on roadway and utility projects.
• Lead roadway, grading and underground utility crews and their foremen.
• Schedule and coordinate subcontractors, equipment and material deliveries.
• Plan the work and hold the project schedule shift to shift.
• Own jobsite safety, toolbox talks and OSHA compliance on every shift.
• Set up and manage traffic control and lane closures inside approved work windows.
• Work directly with NCDOT inspectors and project engineers.
• Track installed quantities and daily production.
• Complete daily reports, crew time and field documentation.
• Coordinate handoffs with the project manager and the other shift.
