Job summary

State of South Carolina is seeking a maintenance worker to operate a standard dump truck and other small equipment to haul materials such as asphalt, limestone, soil, cement, and debris. The role includes assisting with traffic control and setting up a maintenance work zone.

Candidates must obtain a valid driver’s license on entry and complete a Class A CDL within six months. The job may require extended hours, weekend shifts, or overnight duty during hazardous weather, with lifting up to 50 lbs

Qualifications

Valid motor vehicle operator’s license required; Class A CDL must be obtained within six months.
No minimum training or experience requirements.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
May be required to work overtime, nights, and/or weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies.
On-call repairs and inclement weather operations may require extended hours.

Responsibilities

Operate dump truck and other small equipment to haul materials.
Assist with placement of traffic control devices to set up maintenance work zones.
Serve as a flagger to direct traffic safely in maintenance work zones.
Assist in on-call repairs and inclement weather operations.
Perform maintenance activities with forklifts, concrete mixers, powered tools and hand tools.
