Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled equipment operator to support road maintenance and construction. You will operate tandem dump trucks, skid steers, and rollers, load and haul materials, and assist with backhoes and graders as needed.

This full-time role requires a valid driver's license, enrollment to obtain a Class A CDL within six months, and physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications

• Six months of related work experience or equivalent.
• Must have a valid driver's license and obtain Class A CDL within six months.
• Physically able to perform demanding labor and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operate tandem dump truck, skid steer, and large roller and load/haul materials.
• Assist in operating backhoe, motor grader, slope mower, boom mower, and excavator.
• Use hand and power tools for maintenance and set up work zones, traffic control.
• Perform pre-trip vehicle/equipment inspections and report deficiencies.
• Work in inclement weather, on-call emergencies, and after-hours shifts as needed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
